As a doctor who treats Attention Deficit Disorder, I am often asked about ways to calm hyperactive children. As the mother of a son with ADHD, I understand how challenging and nerve-wracking it can be for families struggling with the condition.

During the course of my personal and clinical experience, I have learned various methods and techniques to calm hyperactive children. The key is consistency. Give these a try and see what works for your child.

How To Calm Hyperactive Children

* Speak in a calming voice without frustration or yelling. Be the role model: If you want your child to be calm, remain calm yourself.

* Healthy diet. Eat fresh foods, fruits, and vegetables. Choose foods that have not been sprayed with harmful pesticides, or pumped with growth hormones, steroids, and antibiotics.

* Eliminate foods and drinks that contain added preservatives, coloring and sugar. Check labels for anything that contains high fructose corn syrup as it has been implicated in harming brain functioning, and causing obesity, and diabetes. You will be shocked to see that it is contained in many foods you consume.

* Maintain firm, but kind, boundaries. Negotiate for good behavior.

* Regular physical activity and exercise. Structured and focused activities help redirect all of that unfocused hyper energy. Studies show that performing vigorous activity can calm hyperactive children.

* Remove the child from the situation in which they are exhibiting hyperactivity such as a birthday party, store, etc. In other words, change the triggering environment.

* Engaging in creative activities can help calm hyperactive children. This enables them to develop their creativity and release emotional energy.

* Massage. Try massaging temples, rubbing shoulders, massaging the scalp, or lightly running fingers through hair to calm a hyperactive child.

* Breathing and relaxation. Most children and adults do not know how to calm down. Encourage children to monitor their breathing when they get overly stimulated and teach them to take deep breaths by slowly inhaling through the nose for 3-5 counts and exhaling through the mouth for 3-5 counts. Increase these amounts over time. Teach them to focus on their body and recognize any physical tension. Teach them to let go and release any body tension upon exhalation like a deflating balloon.

* Consistency. Stick to routines. Make certain children know what is expected of them and the consequences for not abiding. Prepare children for any unusual or non-routine activities by explaining what is going to happen, and discuss ways they can keep calm even with the excitement brought on by the different activities. Follow through consistently.

* Try creating a “Quiet Box”, “Boredom Box” or “Quiet Room” that provides creative outlets for a hyperactive child. Provide a quiet room or space with quiet toys and activities such as puzzles, book, jewelry making, drawing, etc. This room should have soothing lighting and paint. * Try some soothing aromatherapy scents.

* Expose them to the beauty of nature. A quiet walk in the park, camping, admiring the serenity of a gentle stream, or simply relaxing in the backyard while gazing at the stars is a great way to teach kids (and parents) how to slow down.

* Use soothing music or sounds to calm hyperactive children.

* Calmly explain why your child needs to settle down such as “If you jump off the bed you can hurt yourself.” It is not a debate, state it simply and do not get into a challenging debate.

* Divide tasks into smaller components and calmly repeat instructions.

* Avoid whatever may trigger their hyperactivity.

* You set the tone, so try to remain positive. Children sense negative thoughts and will react to them; the converse is also true. Reassure them that you still love them even when they are behaving in a “highly spirited” fashion.

* Put a positive spin on time out by using it as an opportunity to calm down and remove the child from a trigger situation.

* Get enough sleep. Children 1 to 3 years old typically require 12 to 14 hours of sleep, 3 to 6 year old kids should get 10 3/4 to 12 hours of sleep, children 7 to 12 years of age need 10 to 11 hours, and 12 to 18 year old kids need 8 ¼ to 9 ½ hours of sleep daily.

* Engage in self care. Monitor your own your own frustration. Your projected energy has a direct effect on your children and environment, so you must take care of yourself before caring for others.


If you follow these suggestions exactly and retain some patience, I guarantee that you will see progress in your child.

Network Marketing is truly an exciting business. And there are quite a lot of genuine opportunities out there but not all of them will be right for you. Some you will succeed at and others you will fail. And there are several factors that can determine the outcome of your involvement in any MLM business. I will outline a few things you must consider before joining an MLM company:

  1. What product/service does the company deal in?: You must feel passionate about the product/service you are offering for sale otherwise you won’t be motivated to sell them or tell anyone about them. And that automatically means you won’t make any money. So my advice is to find a company that has a service or product line that you are extremely passionate about because passion is infectious and motivates the customer or prospect to consider your offer.
  2. What is the cost of the product/service?: If the products/service are too expensive for those in your social circle, then it’s most likely you won’t have anyone to sell the products to. And this can lead to a lot of frustration. It’s best to stick to products that you know most people around you can afford. That way you are guaranteed repeat business.
  3. Is there a real demand for the product?:  Some companies offer some fanciful products that nobody wants. They may be technologically advanced and have some heavenly esthetic quality. It might even be something that people really need but the truth is no one pays for something they don’t desire. So don’t waste your time marketing things that no one wants unless you don’t mind tying down your money in unwanted stock.
  4. Do the products deliver on their promise?: The key to success in business is repeat business. And the way to guarantee repeat business is to sell a product or offer a service that adds real value to the customer. This is what will motivate the customer to keep buying. If the company’s products or service don’t deliver, you won’t get repeat business and that’s bad for business. The products must do what the company says it will do and the service must deliver satisfactorily.
  5. Are you allowed to personally select your products?: If the company compels you to buy products that you know you will have a hard time selling then there is no need to waste your time with that company.   6. What is the entry fee?: This is very key to your success in network marketing. Make no mistake about this. You must choose a company that has a registration fee that most people you know can afford to risk investing. It really doesn’t make any difference if you can afford but your prospects can’t. Because if you can afford the registration fee and your prospective recruits can’t, you won’t be able to register anyone, let alone grow a team and earn commissions.
  7. What is the time lag between ordering the products and delivery? : This is very essential to your success in the business. No customer is going to wait forever for your award winning product to arrive. You’ve got to be sure that the company either has a depot that you can easily get products from or that it is certain that it will take no less than a day or two for you to get your products to your customers ( except in out-of-stock situations). Outside of this condition you’re bound to lose potential customers.
  8. What is the marketing plan? : I chose to list this as my last point so as to deemphasize the hype that is often placed on it as the sole key to success in Network Marketing. The Marketing plan outlines the cost of registration, how commissions are paid, what qualifies a distributor for the earnings, the criteria for business growth, compensations at each growth level and the activities that produce the best financial output. This is the most enticing part of the business and a lot of people assume that the business will be profitable as long as the marketing plan promises a pot of gold. This is rarely the case. There are several other factors that determine the profitability of a Network Marketing business, some of which I have already outlined. But it’s important that you examine the marketing plan closely and determine firsthand if it’s workable, if the criteria for earning commissions is realistic and if all the other factors I listed above are present.

It’s also important to note that a marketing plan that guarantees quick growth to a manager level, does not automatically guarantee high earnings at that level.

Harmful welding fumes, loud noises, intense heat, glaring light—these may be an unwelcome part of your work day. The extent of the problem depends upon the type of welding you do, and the precautions that you take. The content of the welding rods, coatings, filler metals, and base materials also greatly impacts your health.

Manganese in Welding Fumes

Your biggest on–the–job risk is exposure to the manganese contained in fumes that are given off during welding. Inhaling manganese can cause very serious damage to your brain and nervous system.

Many workers who are exposed to welding fumes suffer from Parkinson’s disease, a major disorder affecting movement and balance. They often develop “manganism,” a disease closely related to Parkinson’s, that also makes it difficult to walk and move properly. Both manganism and Parkinson’s disease cause tremors, shaking, and loss of muscle control. These conditions can become more severe as time passes.

Other Harmful Metals in Welding Fumes

contained in the welding fumes in addition to manganese. Breathing in iron oxide irritates your nasal passages, throat, and lungs.

Working with stainless steel may produce welding fumes containing nickel and chromium. If you have asthma, exposure to nickel can make your illness worse. Chromium can aggravate or cause sinus problems. Both nickel and chromium may cause cancer, according to NIOSH (Safety and Health Fact Sheet No. 4, American Welding SocietyWelding Fumes and Gases, Center to Protect Workers’ Rights).

Hazardous Coatings

Welding on some plated or painted metals may be especially hazardous (Welding Fumes Sampling, Mine Safety and Health Administration). Cadmium is often used as a coating on steel to prevent rust. However, cadmium in welding fumes causes the lung disease, emphysema, as well as kidney failure (Cadmium Exposure from Welding, American Welding SocietyWelding Health Hazards, OSHA).

If you cut a metal that has been coated with paint that contains lead, it may give off welding fumes containing lead oxide. Inhaling these welding fumes can cause lead poisoning, a condition in which you become weak and develop anemia (a low red blood cell count). Lead also harms your nervous system, kidneys, and reproductive system (Lead, ATSDR).

Some welding rods are coated with asbestos. If you inhale asbestos dust that is released into the air, you are at risk for developing serious asbestos–related diseases. These include lung cancer, an aggressive cancer called mesothelioma, and asbestosis, which is a scarring of the lungs.

containing chlorinated hydrocarbons, the ultraviolet light can react with the solvents to form phosgene gas, which is deadly in even small amounts (Welding Hazards, AFSCME Fact Sheet). Do not take a chance—never do arc welding near degreasing equipment or solvents.

Looking at ultraviolet light without proper eye protection may lead to “welder’s flash,” which is damage to the cornea of your eye (Ultraviolet Keratitis, Reed Brozen, M.D.). You may already know about this problem. Symptoms include blurred vision and a burning sensation in your eyes. Although the condition takes about a week to heal, you risk permanent eye damage if you are often exposed to ultraviolet light for long periods of time, so it is important to wear your face shield and goggles.

Constant loud noise from machinery is another on–the–job hazard. It can lead to hearing loss and stress. Your employer must keep your exposure to noise at certain levels specified by law. Over the past twenty years, fertility problems have increased dramatically. At least 25 percent of couples planning a baby will have trouble conceiving, and more and more couples are turning to fertility treatments to help them have a family.

What is the cause? From a medical point of view, infertility is believed to be caused by the following factors, and in these proportions.

Problem Percentage of cases: 

Ovulatory failure (including Polycystic Ovary Syndrome)
Tubal damage
Male problems

If the mathematics don’t add up, it’s because many couples experience more than one problem when trying to conceive: for example, you may suffer from endometriosis, but your partner may also have a low sperm count.

Interestingly, the most common cause of infertility is ‘unexplained’, which means that following thorough investigations, doctors can find no specific or identifiable medical problem at the root. But this is where a natural approach can come into play. If a couple fails to become pregnant, there is obviously something causing the problem. It’s no good labelling infertility ‘unexplained’. The answer is to look deeper – at lifestyle factors, nutritional deficiencies and even emotional elements.

What are your choices?

The natural approach to fertility is and has been enormously successful, largely because fertility is multi-factorial, meaning that there are many, many elements that can be at the root of your fertility problems. A study conducted by the University of Surrey showed that couples with a previous history of infertility who made changes in their lifestyle, diet and took nutritional supplements had an 80 percent success rate Given that the success rate for assisted conception is around 20 percent, it’s worth considering these options.

Natural treatment plans are, by their nature, extensive and really do need to be adjusted to suit your individual needs. I will, however, go through the most important points below. Remember that it takes at least three months for immature eggs (oocytes) to mature enough to be released during ovulation. It also takes at least three months for sperm cells to develop, ready to be ejaculated. This means that when you are trying to improve your fertility, you need to have a four-month period before conceiving. This is called ‘pre-conception care’ and it’s as important to take as much care during this period as it is during a pregnancy itself.

If you are going for IVF treatment or another assisted conception procedure, you should follow the recommendations listed below in order to increase the chances that the procedure will work.

One test which is particularly useful for infertility is the Female Hormone Test (saliva).

A total of eleven saliva samples are collected at home at specific times across one cycle, and sent to the lab for analysis. This simple test will chart the level of the hormones oestrogen and progesterone across the month, to work out a pattern that may reveal:

  • early ovulation
  • anovulation (no ovulation)
  • problems with the phasing of the cycles, such as a short luteal phase (second half of the cycle)
  • problems with maintaining progesterone levels

This test can be done even if you have irregular cycles.


Both you and your partner should follow the dietary recommendations explained in the Nutrition Section (The Foundation of Health) Although it goes without saying that a healthy diet is crucial to a successful pregnancy and a healthy baby, many people are unaware of the fact that diet can help to correct hormone imbalances that may affect your ability to conceive. There are also certain foods and drinks that are known to lower fertility.


Alcohol will affect both you and your partner. In fact, drinking any alcohol at all can reduce your fertility by half – and the more you drink, the less likely you are to conceive. One study showed that women who drank less than 5 units of alcohol a week (equal to five glasses of wine) were twice as likely to get pregnant within six-months compared with those who drank more.

Research has also shown that drinking alcohol causes a decrease in sperm count, an increase in abnormal sperm and a lower proportion of motile sperm. Alcohol also inhibits the body’s absorption of nutrients such as zinc, which is one of the most important minerals for male fertility.

As difficult as it may seem, you should eliminate alcohol from your diets for at least three months in order to give yourself the best possible chance of conceiving.


There is plenty of evidence to show that caffeine, particularly in the form of coffee, decreases fertility. Drinking as little as one cup of coffee a day can halve your chances of conceiving. On study showed that problems with sperm: sperm count, motility and abnormalities, increase with the number of cups of coffee consumed each day. Once again, it’s important to eliminate all caffeine-containing food and drinks for at least three months before trying to conceive. That includes colas, chocolate, black teas and coffee, among other things.


Xenoestrogens are essentially environmental oestrogens, coming from pesticides and the plastic industry. When you are trying to conceive, one of the most important things you need to do is to balance your hormones. It is extremely important to avoid anything that might cause an imbalance, and one of the main culprits is the xenoestrogens. One of the best ways to eliminate an excess intake of xenoestrogens is to buy organic produce for the pre-conceptual period.


Smoking has definitely been linked with infertility in women. It can even bring on an early menopause, which is a particularly important consideration for older women who may be trying to beat the clock. Smoking can decrease sperm count in men, making the sperm more sluggish, and it can increase the number of abnormal sperm. With men, the effects on fertility are increased with the number of cigarettes.


There is now a great deal of scientific knowledge about the use of nutritional supplements and their beneficial effects on both male and female fertility. As you will see, these supplements can be very effective in re-balancing your hormones, as well as improving you and your partner’s overall health, which are so vital for successful conception.

Supplements are necessary because even the best diet in the world will not contain all the nutrients you need to give you the best chance of conceiving.

Folic Acid

It is now known that folic acid can prevent spina bifida in your baby, and it is essential that you get plenty both before and during pregnancy. And that’s not all: folic acid is undoubtedly important, but it is just part of the very important B-complex family of vitamins that are necessary to produce the genetic materials DNA and RNA. Together with vitamin B12, folic acid works to ensure that your baby’s genetic codes are intact. Remember: it’s not enough to take folic acid alone when you are trying to become pregnant. All of the B vitamins are essential during the pre-conceptual period. Research has shown that giving B6 to women who have trouble conceiving increases fertility and vitamin B12 has been found to improve low sperm counts

women. It is an essential component of genetic material and a zinc deficiency can cause chromosome changes in either you or our partner, leading to reduced fertility and an increased risk of miscarriage. Zinc is necessary for your body to ‘attract and hold’ (utilise efficiently) the reproductive hormones, oestrogen and progesterone.

And it’s equally important for your partner: zinc is found in high concentrations in the sperm. Zinc is needed to make the outer layer and tail of the sperm and is, therefore, essential for the health of your partner’s sperm and, subsequently, your baby. Interestingly, several studies have also shown that reducing zinc in a man’s diet will also reduce his sperm count.


Selenium is an antioxidant that helps to protect your body from highly reactive chemical fragments called free radicals. For this reason, selenium can prevent chromosome breakage, which is known to be a cause of birth defects and miscarriages. Good levels of selenium are also essential to maximise sperm formation. Blood selenium levels have been found to be lower in men with low sperm counts.

including the reproductive system and they are crucial for healthy hormone functioning. For men essential fatty acid supplementation is crucial because the semen is rich in prostaglandins which are produced from these fats. Men with poor sperm quality, abnormal sperm, poor motility or low count, have inadequate levels of these beneficial prostaglandins.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is another powerful antioxidant and has been shown to increase fertility when given to both men and women. Men going for IVF treatment with their partners have been given vitamin E, and fertilisation rates have, as a result, increased from 19 to 29 percent. It has been suggested that the antioxidant activity of vitamin E might make the sperm more fertile.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is also an antioxidant, and studies show that vitamin C enhances sperm quality, protecting sperm and the DNA within it from damage. Some research has indicated that certain types of DNA damage in the sperm can make it difficult to conceive in the first place, or it can cause an increased risk of miscarriage if conception does take place. If DNA is damaged, there may be a chromosomal problem in the baby, should the pregnancy proceed. Whether or not DNA damage does have these effects has not been conclusively proven, but it’s worth taking vitamin C and the other antioxidants as a precautionary measure.

Vitamin C also appears to keep the sperm from clumping together, making them more motile.

One study has shown that women taking the drug clomiphene to stimulate ovulation will have a better chance of ovulating if vitamin C is taken alongside the drug. Clomiphene does not always work in every woman, but the chances are often increased when vitamin C is supplemented.

an exceptional amount of this nutrient, which is essential for sperm production. Supplementing with L-arginine can help to increase both the sperm count and quality.

Note: People who have herpes attacks (either cold sores or genital herpes) should not supplement with arginine because it stimulates the virus.


This amino acid is essential for normal functioning of sperm cells. According to research, it appears that the higher the levels of L-Carnitine in the sperm cells, the better the sperm count and motility.

Vitamin A

This vitamin needs to be mentioned because there is a lot of confusion about its use before and after pregnancy. Many health practitioners now advise that no vitamin A is taken during pregnancy. This advice is incorrect, and it can be dangerous to assume that any vitamin or other nutrient should be avoided during the gestational period. Vitamin A has important antioxidant properties, and the consequences of Vitamin A deficiency during pregnancy can be devastating. For one thing, vitamin A is essential for healthy eyes. Animals studies show that vitamin A deficiency during pregnancy has produced new-born animals with no eyes, eye defects, undescended testes and diaphragmatic hernias.

It is only when the vitamin A is in the form of retinol (in other words, the animal form of vitamin A) that there is a problem. It has been found that retinol can cause birth defects if taken in excess of 10,000iu a day. Beta-carotene, which is one of the vegetable forms of vitamin A, does not carry any risks.

Herbs (see caution below)

Herbal treatment is aimed at restoring hormone imbalances, and encouraging ovulation if it is not occurring. It will also give you the best possible chance of maintaining a pregnancy, should you conceive.

Agnus Castus (Vitex or Chaste tree berry)

This is the herb of choice for helping to restore hormone imbalance and increasing fertility. In one study 48 women diagnosed with infertility took agnus castus daily for three months, 7 of them became pregnant during that time and 25 of them regained normal progesterone levels.

Agnus castus is particularly helpful for those women who have a luteal phase defect (shortened second half to the cycle) or those with high prolactin levels, because it stimulates the proper functioning of the pituitary gland which controls the hormones.

Agnus castus works to restore hormonal balance and can be used where there are hormone deficits as well as excesses it:

  • Regulates periods
  • Restarts periods which have stopped
  • Helps with heavy bleeding
  • Increases the ratio of progesterone to oestrogen by balancing excess oestrogen.

Don’t take any herbs while you are using drug treatments or going through assisted conception (such as IVF), unless prescribed by a qualified practitioner.


You should not take any of the above herbs if you are taking, The Pill, Fertillity drugs, HRT or any other hormonal treatment or other medication unless they are recommended by a registered, experienced practitioner.

I suggest that you follow this four-month plan and do not try to conceive within that time. Why? Because when you follow the plan, your fertility will begin to increase. Everything needs to be working at optimum level before you conceive, both to prevent a miscarriage, and to give you the best possible chance of having a healthy baby.

Case history

Susan and her partner were 30 and 31 respectively, and they’d been trying to have a baby for four years before coming to see me. They had been diagnosed with ‘unexplained fertility’ and had had four unsuccessful attempts at IUI. Susan had many problems with her periods: she had a regular cycle, but bled heavily with spotting and headaches before her period. At ovulation, her abdomen swelled up and she felt nauseous.

I asked them to arrange screening for infections and the tests came back positive to one infection, which was easily cleared up by antibiotics. Susan was deficient in a number of nutrients, including zinc, selenium, calcium and magnesium, and her partner had low zinc and high aluminium levels. I therefore recommended that he cut out tinned soft drinks (see page 00) and switch to an aluminium-free deodorant. Because I was concerned that the imbalance causing the problems with Susan’s cycle could also be a factor in her inability to conceive, I also used a combination of balancing herbs, such as agnus castus, to alleviate Susan’s spotting and heavy bleeding. Susan and her partner followed the four-month programme (outlined on page 00) and waited until their mineral levels were back to normal. Nine months from their first appointment day, they conceived, and, not surprisingly, had a baby another nine months later.

If you have been trying to conceive for six months

If you are under the age of 35 and have been trying unsuccessfully to conceive for six months, follow the dietary and supplement suggestions given below for four months. At the end of this period, begin trying to conceive again. Give yourself six months before embarking on any fertility treatments or investigation by your doctor or a gynaecologist.

vera. And yet most people only know about the topical applications of aloe vera gel. They think it’s only good for sunburns. In reality, aloe vera is useful for both external and internal use. In this article, I’ll discuss both.
I’d like to focus on the substantial health benefits of aloe vera to let you see just why I’m so excited about the medicinal applications of this miracle plant.
Health benefits of aloe vera gel

Here’s what I know about aloe vera’s health benefits:
Aloe vera boosts immune function and destroys cancer tumors

There’s research being done now on the anti-cancer effects of acemannan, a phytonutrient found in aloe vera. In one study, dogs and cats undergoing radiation for cancer were given acemannan as an adjunctive therapy. Not only did the tumors shrink more in the acemannan-treated group, but post-treatment survival was significantly extended.

Google Scholar lists hundreds of links exploring the anti-cancer effects of acemannan. If you browse the studies, you’ll realize that acemannan from aloe vera accelerates the destruction of cancer tumors, improves survival time and results in far better recovery from toxic cancer treatments. One study shown here demonstrates that acemannan increases cells’ production of nitric oxide (NO), an anti-cancer chemical strongly associated with the shrinking of cancer tumors. Essentially, the more nitric oxide you produce (to a point), the less cancer you have, and acemannan increases the production of nitric oxide. Although this particular research was focused on chickens, the same effect has also been observed in humans.

Throw out your toxic first aid kid: Aloe vera makes everything else obsolete
Aloe vera is antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal. This fact is well known by not just herbalists around the world, but also by anyone with even a hint of common sense. If aloe vera gel wasn’t antibacterial, then any little nick or scrape of the aloe plant would result in the whole thing being eaten up by bacteria. Aloe has to be antibacterial simply to survive in the wild! Otherwise, the moist, nutrient-rich gel would be a perfect breeding ground for bacteria.
Aloe vera makes most first aid kits obsolete. You can get rid of all those silly, toxic first aid sprays (antibacteria sprays, lotions, bandages, etc.) and just replace them all with aloe vera. I’ve been known to pack small chunks of aloe vera gel inside wounds that ultimately healed with zero scarring. As the aloe vera dries, it actually contracts, pulling the wound shut and keeping it completely free of dangerous bacteria. Plus, it provides nourishment to the wound tissue itself. It’s also perfect for use on animals, because if they lick the wound, they won’t be licking the toxic chemicals found in most first aid products.

Now, I don’t mean to imply that aloe vera is a replacement for an emergency room. If you chopped off your finger in a shop accident, you can’t just glue it back together with aloe vera gel. Or if your daugher ripped a gash in her leg on a swing set accident, she’s probably still going to need stiches, but before you get to the emergency room, aloe vera gel can protect the wound and set the stage for accelerated healing.

Aloe is so useful, in fact, that I take a leaf with me every time I go hiking. It’s my portable first aid kit, and when you have aloe, you hardly need anything else. It treats cuts, scrapes, burns, bites, stings, punctures, sprains, sunburns and even bruises. And as a bonus, if you’re dying of thirst, you can eat the gel for its water content. An entire multi-billion dollar industry in chemical first aid products and synthetic skin care products is made obsolete by aloe vera. That’s why I hope Alan Friedman, the founder of Good Cause Wellness, will soon offer a pure aloe vera gel without any other ingredients. That way, it could be used both as a food supplement AND as a first-aid product.

Aloe vera as a natural food preservative

A thin layer of aloe vera gel can be used as a natural food preservative, eliminating the need for chemical preservatives. Research conducted by Daniel Valero, Ph.D., of the University of Miguel Hernández in Alicante, Spain, showed that a thin layer of aloe vera gel was highly effective in preserving foods. For the experiment, they dipped table grapes into an aloe vera gel, then stored them at refrigerator temperatures. Untreated table graped went bad in 7 days, but the grapes dipped in aloe vera stayed fresh and tast for as astonishing 35 days! Click here to read the ScienceDaily article on this.
Because of this remarkable ability, aloe vera gel could revolutionize food safety around the world. Dipping fruits and vegetables in aloe vera gel would eliminate e.coli, preserve freshness, and greatly extend shelf life. So why isn’t anybody doing this with aloe? Probably because, once again, aloe vera gel can’t be patented. And it’s easier and cheaper for food companies to simply add synthetic chemicals to foods than to switch to something safe and natural.

Aloe vera extends lifespan

A study on rats showed aloe vera extends lifespan by 10 percent. The abstract on this study, shown here, explains the following:

A summary of results are as follows: Aloe ingestion, both crude and processed, was shown to extend (10%) average life span and slow the mortality rate doubling time. Also, several beneficial effects from aloe ingestion on age-related disease were found: Group 2 and 3 showed a lower incidence of atrial thrombosis than Group 1. Furthermore, Group 2 showed a significantly lower incidence of fatal chronic nephropathy and occurrence of multiple causes of death compared to the control group. All groups ingesting aloe showed a slightly lower incidence of fatal leukemia. Moreover, no adverse, toxic effects were found with the ingestion of aloe vera.

“Nephropathy” simply means kidney disorders, by the way. So this is explaining that aloe vera reduces kidney disease and other causes of death. It also demonstrated a lower rate of leukemia, which is an interesting finding given that so many children today still eat hot dogs laced with cancer-causing sodium nitrite (a chemical added by junk food companies to turn the meat red), and sodium nitrite causes leukemia and brain tumors, among other cancers. Aloe vera ends acid reflux disease

Acid reflux isn’t really a disease. The drug companies just call it that to convince everyone that they need to take medications to ease the symptoms. But in reality, all you probably need is aloe vera. Drink aloe vera gel on a regular basis, and your heartburn symptoms will usually vanish within a few days. Of course, it would also help if you’d stop eating fried foods and processed foods.

Aloe vera heals radiation burns from radiation cancer treatments

For those cancer treatment victims who have been maimed by radiotherapy treatments (which don’t cure cancer, by the way: the treatments are largely a medical hoax), applying aloe vera topically to the radiation area will rapidly accelerate the healing response. Consuming aloe vera internally will also help heal radiation burns. Of course, it’s smarter to avoid radiation in the first place, since the procedure actually causes cancer just like mammograms do.

A complete discussion of the fraud in modern cancer treatments would require another article entirely, but the short version is that the cancer industry has no interest whatsoever in actually curing or preventing cancer and, instead, generates windfall profits through ongoing cancer treatments that only harm or kill patients. Chemotherapy, radiation and surgery for cancer are largely medical frauds, and mammography is actually an insidious recruiting system that scares women into unnecessary treatments for cancers they often don’t even have. (The rate of false positives is shockingly high, and mammography has been scientifically proven to harm 10 women for every one woman that it helps.)

If you undergo such barbaric procedures, note that using aloe vera (both internally and externally) can greatly improve your results by protecting you from the treatment itself. Of course, modern oncologists are simultaneously so arrogant and ignorant that they will insist you take nothing that might “interfere” with their poisons, which is why people who foolishly believe in modern oncology are rapidly removing themselves from the human gene pool.
Radiomodifying effects of the leaf extract of Aloe vera were observed on the testes of Swiss albino mice at 50 and 100 mg/kg dose levels. This extract was non-toxic when injected up to 800 mg/kg, and significant enhancement in survival time of the irradiated group was observed. In addition, treatment reduced radiation-induced damage to germ cells and loss in body weight.

Aloe vera cures gum disease

Want a simple, effective cure for gum disease? It’s easy: Just sprinkle some of this aloe vera powder on your toothbrush before brushing. The aloe vera powder actually heals gums and eliminates gum disease.
Merely drinking the aloe also helps heal your gums: Just swish the liquid around your mouth a few times before each swallow. You’ll be bathing your gums in healing aloe gel, and they’ll begin to heal rapidly. Even severe cases of gum disease can be completely cured in a matter of weeks using aloe vera gel. (By the way, most people with gum disease are also chronically deficient in vitamin D, so if you boost your vitamin D intake while treating your gums with aloe vera gel, your results will be greatly accelerated!)

Aloe vera heals burns, cuts and scrapes

When used externally, aloe is the best wound dressing ever discovered, far exceeding the capability of even the most advanced emergency room wound dressings. It works by simultaneously sealing the wound while attracting an increased flow of blood to the wound, acclerating wound healing. Aloe has been known to heal third-degree burn victims with no scarring and to restore burned skin that would have normally died. Every emergency room in every hospital around the world should have aloe vera on hand, but they’d rather stock chemical medicines than far more effective aloe vera gel from nature (you can’t patent aloe vera gel, so there’s no profit incentive).

Aloe vera gel is extremely effective in wound care. Large chunks of aloe vera gel can literally be packed inside wounds such as gunshot wounds or tissue tears. Placed directly on or in the wound, it kills bacteria, prevents infection and actually nourishes the traumatized tissues while sealing the wound against outside infection. Nothing beats aloe for emergency trauma medicine. If the U.S. military had any sense, they’d be carrying aloe vera leaves around to treat soldiers suffering from shrapnel wounds and explosion burns.

Here’s a fascinating use of phytonutrients found in aloe vera. I’ve talked about this in previous articles but never discussed it in detail until now. It turns out that special polymers found in aloe vera gel have the ability to potentiate the oxygen carrying capacity of blood.

What do I mean by that? I mean that aloe vera gel turns sludgy, oxygen-depleted blood into smooth-flowing oxygen-rich blood! It’s being used experimentally right now by the U.S. military to save the lives of soldiers who have lost enormous amounts of blood from battlefield injuries. The original research was done on rats (see below) by unethical researchers who kill rats for a living. They bled out the rats, removing up to 3.15mL of blood per 100g of rat body weight (which is a huge amount of blood when you consider the small size of the rats), then tried to resuscitate them by injecting a polymer made from aloe vera. The study showed phenomenal improvements in the resuscitation, blood pressure and survival in the group receiving the aloe vera polymer.
What it means is that the aloe vera made the remaining blood work better. And this was done in rats who, believe it or not, have far healthier diets than the average U.S. consumer. By using aloe vera in humans, the improvement in the “sludge blood” found in most U.S. adults would be nothing less than astonishing. Drug companies, of course, want to isolate some chemical found in aloe vera and turn it into a patentable drug. But that’s entirely unnecessary.

Just eat aloe vera gel and you get the benefits. Besides, the benefits are not due to one isolated chemical, they’re made possible by a symphony of supporting phytonutrients. That’s something that all the minds in western pharmaceutical science today still can’t understand: the synergy of healing compounds from nature.

Aloe vera gel is one of my own secrets to strong athletic performance. People who know me at the gym call me a “cardio machine.” They even gave me a nickname in Capoeira that means “The Machine.” Because at age 38, I’m out-performing twenty years olds. One of my secrets is simply that I frequeuntly eat raw aloe vera gel. It makes my blood carry more oxygen to enhance the function of my tissues and organs. That gives me a strong “oxygen advantage” over everyone else, because almost nobody else eats aloe vera (they’re too closed minded to even consider the possibility of what it might do for them). So while others are eating poisonous foods and taking toxic drugs, I’m eating nutrient-dense superfoods and taking aloe vera.

The effect is so powerful that I’m fairly certain as soon as professional athletes figure this out, they’re going to start doping with aloe vera gel. They’ll cycle farther, swim faster and recover more quickly from any physical exercise. Aloe vera gel turns normal blood into super-oxygenated blood. But you have to eat a lot of it. I blend up an entire leaf (a piece of gel about the size of my forearm) in a smoothie and drink that. You can’t expect huge benefits from taking tiny nibbles of aloe vera. You have to make it part of your diet. Eat it like food.
Reducing stroke and heart attacks

Now, if you know anything about the cause of strokes and heart attacks, you realize that enhancing the quality of the blood will have a significant impact on reducing heart attacks and strokes. To my knowledge, there aren’t any strong studies measuring this effect yet, but I have no doubt there will be in time. Eating aloe vera is like adding an all-natural non-stick additive to your blood flow. It stops blood cells from clumping together, which is part of what causes a stroke.

Dark-field microscopy is a technique for viewing live human blood vessels. As with any truly useful technology for preventing disease without drugs and surgery, it’s been censored and oppressed by the medical establishment, but what’s interesting about dark-field microscopy is that it shows the form and structure of your blood cells. You can actually see how your blood cells are shaped and whether they clump together. Most people’s blood cells clump together because they live on a disease-inducing diet of fried foods, homogenized dairy fats, saturated animal fats, hydrogenated oils and other deadly foods. These massive clumps of blood cells slow bloodflow and can ultimately get lodged in the capillaries of the circulatory system, blocking off nutrients and oxygen to tissues and brain cells. Aloe vera, on the other hand, causes sticky blood to become “unsticky blood,” making it flow like it should — one blood cell at a time — so that oxygen and nutrients can reach every last organ and cell in your body.

The fact that aloe vera can reverse “sludge blood” while allowing the blood to carry more oxygen means that it will quite obviously reduce heart attacks and strokes. In fact, it will also reduce high blood pressure because part of the reason blood pressure is so high in some people is because their blood has turned into a thick, viscious liquid that flows like molasses. Basic physics tells you that a thicker liquid will take more pressure to pump through any system. By reducing the viscosity and making the bood flow in a more frictionless manner, blood pressure is automatically lowered.

There are many other benefits that come from eating aloe vera gel, too, such as increased blood flow to the brain, which might mean a reduction in Alzheimer’s progression, improved learning, enhanced memory and better cognitive function. These benefits have yet to be proven in studies, but just because the studies haven’t been done doesn’t mean the aloe isn’t already providing these benefits to those who take it. Since there’s no money to be made from studing aloe vera, the science will lag behind reality by several decades. Most of the best healing benefits of herbs remain unstudied because there’s no profit motive to fund such studies. So don’t expect scientists to be leaping at the opportunity to “prove” that aloe vera has all these health benefits. Just eat it yourself and observe your own health improvements. You get the benefits regardless of whether a journal has published statistics about those benefits.
If you’ve never eaten aloe before, be sure to take only a small amount at first. I’ve never heard of anyone having an allergy to aloe vera, but you never know until you try it.

In any case, after taking large amounts of aloe vera, you may feel some difference in your digestion for a few days. If you’ve been constipated, aloe will likely reduce its severity, and you may notice a far easier time passing stools. If you’ve had stomach pains or intestinal pains, you’ll likely notice them easing or vanishing completely. Aloe vera is the best internal medicine for the treatment of colon polyps, in my opinion. It soothes the intestinal tract and helps heal pre-cancerous lesions or growths. In fact, a raw juice diet using vegetable and fruit juices combined with aloe vera gel is practically a miracle cure for early-stage colon cancer. Think of it as a raw juice fast + aloe vera. It’s a very powerful cleansing recipe.

To blend or not to blend?

Because aloe vera contains many beneficial long-chain polysaccharides, I have often wondered whether blending the gel in a Vita-Mix might cause some of the polysaccharides to be broken. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s best to add the aloe vera as the LAST ingredient so it gets blended the least, thereby minimizing any potential shredding of the polysaccharides.

So whether you’re using raw aloe vera gel or a dried aloe vera powder, blend all your other ingredients first, adding aloe vera as the last ingredient. Try to blend the aloe for the shortest time necessary.
